For that possible upcoming project I talked about yesterday, and all the stuff mentioned in the Guy Croft manual is available in the several online stores you guys linked to me yesterday. It's not gonna be cheap, but at least it seems doable. One thing that's great about Guy's tuning method is that the "stages" are well defined and you know exactly what parts you need and what you can expect out of each stage. For example, if you own a mid 90's 1995 cc engine that you want to build to NA Stage II spec, you know you're going to need 9.8 compression ratio pistons compatible with 1978 onwards 1995 cc engines, and that's how sellers list their items. Pistons, rods, bearings, valves, camshafts, cranks, gaskets, even high performance radiators and pumps and lightweight flywheels and pulleys are readily available, and everything fits!

I've no idea when I'll be able to start picking up parts or actually do it, but the plan is to build the engine up to Naturally Aspirated Stage III, which makes about 210 bhp with 11.5:1 compression ratio pistons. A whole suspension setup transplanted from an Alfa Romeo 156 would take care of keeping the car stable, and Ferodo racing brake pads would provide additional stopping power, at least at first. My main concern at the moment is to get the engine and cooling systems up to date, since they're the most likely parts to fail next, then take care of suspension and braking.

I wish you luck with your Fiat project. Mine is coming to Kansas in a couple of weeks, so I can reassemble it.

Incidentally, my Spider has the same 2.0 twin-cam your Tipo has, but a bit older and in RWD.

That's awesome! One thing I've learned searching for parts is that classic Fiats have a surprisingly large following in the US. Most of the stores I've searched are in the US and focus on Spiders, 131s and X1/9s, but since the engine is pretty much the same from 1978 onwards, all the stuff available for the 1995 cc engine will fit mine as well. Even some parts from the 1756 cc, such as the heads, will fit. Installing 1756 cc heads on the 1995 cc engine will increase CR by another 0.5, so that's one way to get to the 11:1 described in the Stage III.

1981. She's a good one, though a problem child at times.

Have a picture of mine...

I absolutely the looks of these little cars. I might be biased, but I'd have one of these over an Alfa Spider. Are you planning on upgrading it?
